Just last week, I went shopping for some clothes for work. I’m an executive in a nonprofit organization. I don’t want to wear low-cut, skin tight dresses to work (thanks anyways, Forever 21). I also don’t wish to wear elastic-waist, mint green pantsuits (courtesy of Sears). I want something form-fitting and fashionable, yet classy and work-appropriate.

Obviously, since I’m the author of this blog, I’m not keen on visiting online boutiques and spending $300 on my next chic suit. I just want classic, simple, and stylish. And I want to be able to try it on before I buy it. In such a modern world, is that too much to ask?

You’ve probably heard the reports. I know that I have. In fashion, black is out. It’s mundane. It’s tired. It’s (gasp) boring. On the other hand, it’s timeless, slimming, and classic.

Whichever way you lean on the scale of color in fashion, apparently black isn’t all the way out. And in North Carolina, it’s looking good. These three gals were out at Alexander’s of Jacksonville, sporting black. Granted, one of the ladies has a little silver to accent, but it’s mostly still black. Check it out.

See something you like in line at Starbuck’s? Snap it and send it in. See something you don’t like while Fido was playing at the park? Snap it and send it in.  Then come back and see what’s hot and what’s not in a city near you. Chances are, the styles you see in your area are accessible, affordable and most of all .. look good.  

Model it, snap it, do whatever you need to do to get it to us. Keep your eye on the street and your camera in your purse (or for the men out there … your pocket)  Share your style (and everyone else’s)  with the world.
